Are You Wounded?
“For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:22-5.
Are you wounded? Are you hurting? Think no one knows what you’re going through? Think no one cares? Well, God knows and He cares for you. When you cry, He cries; when you hurt, He hurts.
Sometimes, maybe because of very low self-esteem, we forget about the love of the Lord and we also forget His promises. We also don’t understand that we have a responsibility to do something when we are hurting. Read this scripture: “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” – I Peter 5:6-7.
Do you see the word, “casting?” That’s an action word and it requires you to respond; YOU must cast your care upon the Lord. “Well,” you say, “I do that all the time and it never does any good!” Listen, while it may be true that you cast your cares up to heaven when you pray, it is also true that you almost immediately take your cares back and re-stuff them into your heart before God even has a chance to heal you. And, when you take your cares back, you are quickly refilled with worry, doubt, and unbelief; not to mention, FEAR! What you and I must learn is to leave our cares with God. Allow Him to carry the burden of worry and fear. You’ll feel better if you can manage to do that. When you begin to realize that God is quite capable of taking care of you, you can relax. And, please, remember this: GOD LOVES YOU AND DESIRES TO TAKE CARE OF YOU!
Never think that you are just a number to God. He knows you personally even to the point of knowing how many hairs are on your head (or, for some, how many are missing)!
