Christmas: Is it Pagan?

Christmas has taken a big hit in recent years by well-meaning people who just can’t seem to relax and enjoy the holiday! I’m talking about the ones who found one rather obscure scripture in the book of Jeremiah that talks about trees that were used in heathen worship, and so they think Christmas trees are demonic.

Others claim that Jesus couldn’t have possibly been born in December so we shouldn’t be celebrating Christmas! PLEASE, GIVE US ALL A BREAK!

There is no doubt that down through the centuries a lot of commercialism, and even some wrong doctrines have found their way into our Christian holidays but that doesn’t mean that God can’t use these times for His Glory. Christmas and “Easter” are not the same as Halloween! Halloween is a destructive holiday and has never had anything to do with Jesus or the Christian faith! It’s all about Satan, demons, ghosts, and other unseemly things that are in direct opposition to Christianity!

However, Christmas and Easter (or Resurrection Sunday if you prefer) are times of the year when we Christians have an opportunity to celebrate and remember two of the most important historical events in history: The birth of Jesus our Savior and His death, burial, and resurrection! And, yes, you’re right, colored eggs and bunny rabbits don’t have much to do with those events but they’re also rather harmless pieces of tradition that have found their way into these holidays.

It’s like the Christmas tree. I’ve never seen any Christians worshipping their tree at Christmas time, have you? So, why ruin it for everyone else, especially the children just because you aren’t sure about trees and gifts and all the rest?

If you feel God has given you a personal conviction concerning these things, I respect that and that’s between you and God but, just remember, He may not have given that same conviction to everyone else.

Jesus is the real reason for the season! It’s all about Him. I don’t care if He was born in December or September. I’m just glad He came. That’s what my family zeroes in on.

I love you! Merry Christmas!
