In I Corinthians chapter twelve, there are Nine (9) Gifts of the Holy Spirit listed. These mighty Gifts appeared in the church at the moment Jesus sent the Holy Spirit (Acts 1 & 2) and they have NEVER left! 

The reason Jesus gave us the Gifts of the Spirit was really quite simple: He wanted His ministry to continue here on earth while He completed His mission in heaven; to sit on the right hand of the Father and daily make intercession for us!

This whole thing is really one of the greatest mysteries presented in the scriptures. Think about it! Jesus left this earth to prepare a place for us but He sent the Holy Ghost to earth to INDWELL the body of every believer on earth! That’s right. God lives inside of you today! Now, that’s not just some symbol or metaphor, no, it is reality! God Himself has come to make His house inside of your body! His Spirit and your spirit have become one…and, He didn’t come empty handed. He came bearing Gifts, power, authority, and the anointing!

Some of the Gifts of the Spirit are Inspiration Gifts that bring revelation. For example, the Gift of Prophecy is God’s AUDIBLE VOICE on earth today. When someone yields his voice to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, it is God speaking directly to His people! I think all of you appreciate the Bible but I also believe you’d agree with me that sometimes you could sure use a direct, One on one Word from God Himself! That’s what Prophecy is all about!

Another of these Inspiration Gifts is the Word of Knowledge. There are times that you don’t have all the information you need to properly minister to God’s sheep. In those moments, God may interject a piece of knowledge supernaturally into your spirit that will enable you to bring healing and relief to whoever you’re ministering to. Boy, do we need this Gift today, because the Bible says “we see through a glass, darkly!” In other words, what we see just with our natural eyes is not always the whole picture.

Another way that prophecy is used in the church today is through the combining of two other Gifts: the Gift of Tongues and the Interpretation of Tongues. These two Gifts together are the same as Prophecy! I’m not sure why God chose to do things this way except that it means more people have the opportunity to be involved as He speaks to the church!

I sincerely hope you  are involved in a church where the Gifts are welcomed! The Holy Ghost should be a part of every service and everything we do.

Listen, the Holy Spirit does not chase people away. He DRAWS people! In our community, there are people from all sorts of backgrounds but they have one thing in common: they’re hungry for more of God! We have welcomed the Holy Spirit and His gifts into our church because we know that is where the anointing takes place.
