The Nutty Professor

I know that all of you in your life have had the honor of watching the MDA (muscular dystrophy) telethon during the Labor Day weekend. Jerry Lewis has hosted this event for decades and he’s succeeded in raising hundreds of millions of dollars, most of which went to the MDA to help find a cure for a myriad of muscular diseases plaguing our population, especially children. Simply put, Mr. Lewis seems to be a great man; a kind man; a loving man, especially towards hurting young people! But, let me ask you a question:

WILL ALL THE WONDERFUL THINGS JERRY LEWIS HAS DONE GET HIM INTO HEAVEN?

Surely if anyone could get into heaven based upon their meritorious service to humankind, it must be Jerry Lewis!

Mr. Lewis, a Jewish man by race and by faith, has had more than one wife over the course of his life but one of them was a very interesting person:  she was a Charismatic, Spirit-filled Christian woman. I’ll never forget many years ago watching this couple being interviewed on national television. Jerry’s Christian wife was being very bold that day and told the interviewer that she loved her husband very much and had been praying for him every day of their married life that he would find his true Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Now, I could tell that Jerry was very uncomfortable with the way the interview was going and he avoided even acknowledging what his wife was talking about. Not long after that interview, Mr. Lewis divorced his Christian wife.

Today, Jerry is still seen on the Labor-Day telethon but he has become grossly disfigured as his body has been ravaged by the steroids that he must take to stay alive. His face is grotesque and swollen but, like the trooper he is, he still shows up year after year for “Jerry’s Kids!” But, how sad this story is because you and I both know that without Jesus in his life, Jerry Lewis is lost and destined to spend eternity separated from God. You see, only the Blood Of Jesus can save you! Pray for him!
